Bukumirsko Lake
Home of an endemic newt
About Bukumirsko Lake
Bukumirsko Lake is a glacial lake in the Kuči mountains, on the northern slope of Žijovo at 1,448 metres: 210 metres long, 130 wide and up to 16.8 metres deep, fed by rain and snowmelt. It is home to the Montenegrin alpine newt, found only here. Our advice: go in summer, combine it with lunch at Katun Mokra and bring layers, as it is cool even in August.
