About Church of St George

The Church of St George stands at the foot of Gorica Hill, which gave Podgorica (“under Gorica”) its name. It was built between the 9th and 11th centuries and has been repaired and rebuilt several times, so its original form is not fully preserved, but the interior keeps frescoes by an anonymous painter. Our advice: visit before a walk up Gorica.
