The heart of Podgorica: Independence Square, the café terraces of Njegoševa, Hercegovačka and Bokeška, the National Theatre and Njegoš Park.
About The centre (Nova Varoš)
Nova Varoš, the “new town”, was laid out after 1878 on a grid of streets across the Ribnica from the Ottoman quarter, and it is still the centre of city life. Independence Square is its open heart, and the streets around it, Njegoševa, Hercegovačka and Bokeška, are lined with café terraces from end to end.
The Montenegrin National Theatre, Njegoš Park and the Hilton are a few minutes’ walk apart, and the Morača flows just to the west.
